What’s up Andri?
Man, I’m so excited. Right now I’m getting prepared for my summer in New Zealand.
What’s it like growing up in Masein (Switzerland)?
Being with my family and having my friends around is very important to me. Finally, that’s why I will succeed at comps.
If you were given the choice now, where would you spend your childhood?
I would choose a small village next to a resort with a huge snowpark. Mhm, sounds like my hometown which is next to Laax!
What or who got you into skiing?
My father used to be a racer and he actually won the Euro Cup a while ago. That’s my major influence. We are a family full of skiers. Mhm, freeskiers! My younger brother is improving his skills are unbelievable!
Give us a quick recap of your season:
My motto is “skiing for fun”. That’s what I did. Besides skiing in the Snowpark at Laax I went to some major comps in Europe and did a lot of filming and photoshoots.
What keeps you motivated?
Man, there’s so many things to learn. I just want to reach the next level, and after that the next and so on…
Who are your skiing/snowboarding inspirations and alltime athletes?
For sure my younger brother Elias. He is a dope skier, good on rails, halfpipe and big air. He is 16 but his level is amazing.
What ’s your own, personal, major accomplishment in skiing?
No doubt - getting a sponsor like Armada!

What makes a good skier?
I would say he has to be good at all different parts of skiing - BC, halfpipe, big air, rails.. Pretty much like Tanner.
State of Skiing in ‘08- are you satisfied?
Mhm, why not satisfied? Skiing is growing, especially here in Europe. I’m glad because it opens a lot of doors.

As a professional skier you get around a lot. If someone could only take one trip in his or her life, where would you recommend and why?
Lake Tahoe backcountry… that powder, it’s heaven!
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about Andri?
Being honest, freeskiing can only be a part of your life. BUT it will always be in your heart!
What brings you the greatest happiness in life?
Powder or a perfect kickerline!
If you could eliminate a personality flaw, what would it be?
Before skiing I am always so excited. Once I’m at a resort I have to go up to the snowpark. Patience must be the word.

Fuck it, freeskiing is great!

No kidding, two years ago I broke my neck. But I always have some smaller injuries that don’t keep me away from skiing.

Andri Ambühl is right now paractising in NZ for the upcoming Freeski Open. Hanging out together with the dudes from Armada, he widened his network. Telling me that it is a great advantage to ride with the well-known guys from the freeski world, he feels very confident about NZ Freeski Open and Freestyle.ch.
On the other side, Elias Ambühl is now in Saas Fee to get ready for Freestyle.ch. A couple of days before, he went to the waterramps in Mettmenstetten to get some new tricks ready for the slopes - thx Iso for your coop.!
